Dr. James D. “Tripp” Leitner, III is a native of Rock Hill and graduated from Northwestern High School in 1996. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in biology from the Honors Program at The Citadel and graduated magna cum laude. He then stayed in Charleston to attend dental school at MUSC and upon graduation was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society.
In keeping with his life long goal of becoming an Orthodontist, Dr. Leitner continued training in New Orleans, Louisiana at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. Here he completed a two year three months residency in the specialty of Orthodontics. After completion of his first year in residency, he was awarded the Louisiana Association of Orthodontist J. Jerome Herbert Award, which is given to the top first year resident.
Dr. Leitner was treated by Dr. Thomas when he was growing up in Rock Hill. He is a huge advocate of all that is fun around our office – including those iPads our patients love playing with while visiting us! Dr. Leitner loves South Carolina football and can often be found at Williams-Brice stadium on a Saturday. He enjoys working on his farm in Chester and counts down to turkey season every year, too. We feel confident that you will not find an orthodontist that is more of a perfectionist – something you definitely want when it comes to your smile!
